These
were done around 1995 using an Akai S900 sampler (R.I.P.) and live and
MIDI triggering. All tracks were originally recorded on plain old cassette
tape, so quality is variable.
Lubdub
(6:53)
For heartbeat,
microphone, and FX. I was in a deep state of despair when I recorded
this.
In
the Room
(5:07)
A random
walk through a line in T. S. Eliot's "The
Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"
Vowel
Movement (4:26)
Phoneme
meditation
Donkey
Warts (6:03)
Swarming
of a seven-second sample.
Update:
August, 2006: It's been five years since I put this site up, and
no one has yet identified the source (it's not Cocteau Twins), so I'm
increasing the prize. Ten dollars (paid via PayPal) to the first
person to identify the source of the sample used in "Donkey Warts".
Right
to the Dove
(5:11)
Taped
a commercial for Dove moisturizing cream off the TV, loaded it into
the sampler, and went nuts. First heard on an episode of Negativland's
weekly program, "Over the Edge". I won't say which episode,
because it doesn't matter!
